Nothing - it was awful

Dirty, poorly maintained, inadequate facilities.... We even found a pair of socks under the pillow and an old toothbrush in the bathroom. Nothing to recommend this place.

They changed our room to one with windows - thank God there were availability!

How come we were not informed at the time of booking, that the room did not have a window?? The breakfast was poor!

The best thing about this hotel was the location.

Two couples booked this hotel because it advertised a roof terrace. This was our priority so that we could sit together in the evenings. We were told on arrival it was out of action and had been for a month. If the manager had emailed us about this we would have cancelled our booking. The breakfast was very poor, taken in what can only be described as a dark corridor. The quality of the food was poor and limited. We cancelled breakfast after two days and found a café up the road with wonderful food for half the price. I asked to speak to the manager over a 3 day period to no avail, only to then find he had gone on holiday. A very obliging receptionist did however refund 3 days of money we had paid for breakfast. The rooms were small with a mixture of old inadequate furniture for storing clothes. Although mini bars were advertised in each room they were empty fridges and we did not even have one in our room on the ground floor. There were no glasses provide at all. Luckily our room had wooden shutters which worked well to keep out the light, but other rooms had very thin curtains. Two days before we left we lost the electricity in half of our room--ours was two rooms knocked into one--very peculiar. A man failed to fix this, so we managed with torches. Again we were offered other rooms but each one had a peculiarity and I felt the effort of packing up for two nights was not worth it. There was a small old fashioned lounge with a fridge containing drinks which was described as a bar.!

Excellent location and friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is in a beautiful old building.

Our room was small, cramped and needed brightening up. We were astonished to find a stand alone bath in the room behind shower curtains rather than in a separate en suite. The toilet was old fashioned, cramped and had an unpleasant smell. Breakfast was limited. This was not what we expected of a 4 star hotel.

The city of Jerez was lovely and views of the cathedral.

We had booked bed & breakfast rate in executive room. On arrival we were informed they don't serve breakfast and we would be given a refund for breakfast as the hotel had taken the full payment from my card 10 days before. The room was probably the worst executive or standard room I had stayed in during the last 10 years. I would have rather paid more for a better product but it was advertised as a far superior product than it actually was. The bed was like a superior camp bed, extremely uncomfortable with 2 white sheets that didn't even fit. Our friends in a similar room encountered it half decorated.

The 3 staff did their best to help us, despite their junior status and limited experience/linguistic ability. They can not be blamed for the inadequate management. The site is superb if you get a Cathedral facing room. It is a lovely belle-epoch building. Shabby but chic. The potential is there, given a management with vision.

There was no breakfast, despite Booking.com badgering me by email to pre-purchase them. The cook was 'off sick' for the week. Are there no jobbing other cooks in Jerez? The wi-fi works in the office, it doesn't work on the 1st floor in room 207 at the front! As for higher/further rooms I can't say. There is no on-site reception/concierge after 2300. Why? Are there no willing employees in Jerez? The building has recently been bought by Jeys group. What it was like as the previous Hotel Bellas Artes, I have no idea. Beautiful building, prime location, pity about the rubbish management!

Drains were smelly in the room. Shower was over the bath with no seals or curtain so water everywhere. Rubbish bins emptied at 3 in the morning with only single glazing so very noisy plus cobbled street outside so not good for sleeping. Coming to the conclusion that with Booking.com you get the worst rooms.
